Katy ISD Names David Rider Incoming Police Chief


Distinguished ISD prime cop brings a long time of faculty police management to his new function

KATY [January 30, 2025] – Katy ISD has named 34-year legislation enforcement veteran David Rider as incoming Chief of Police. The brand new chief will assume Katy ISD’s prime legislation enforcement submit on Monday, February 17.

“Chief Rider’s distinguished profession in public training policing and his emphasis on relational legislation enforcement, with officers as co-educators in faculties, is a superb match for Katy ISD,” stated Katy ISD Superintendent Ken Gregorski. “His intensive experience in school-based legislation enforcement and his management expertise in large-scale ISDs are unparalleled in our area.”

Rider most not too long ago served as chief of police for Fort Bend ISD, a submit he held since 2010 for the district of 79,000 college students and 83 campuses. Previous to that, he was assistant police chief for Austin ISD, the place he served for almost 13 years. He started his tenure in legislation enforcement in Kingsville, becoming a member of as a patrol officer in 1991 earlier than being promoted to corporal and serving there till 1997.

Chief Rider earned his undergraduate diploma in psychology from Texas A&I College in Kingsville, Texas. He attended the Invoice Blackwood Management Command School in 1998 and earned his grasp’s diploma in legal justice administration from Sam Houston State College.
